The Dogs Who Came Before Me

My mom has always loved animals, specially doggies. And because mom was a little girl who liked to play in the creek, climb trees, make forts and ride her bike all over the small town she lived in, she didn't have many little girl friends. This was because the other little girls only wanted to play with dolls and cried if they got their dresses dirty. Mom made fun of them and called them 'sissies' then ran off to play with her dogs, who were way more fun!

Here are the special doggies who were right by her side on those great adventures.

This sweet little Chihuahua/Terrier mix was the very first doggy furiend mom can remember. Goldie was the family dog and she loved everyone equally. Mom carried her around like a baby and Goldie didn't mind at all.

This handsome and loyal German Shepard was called, King. He was mom's protector and would gently take her hand in his mouth and lead her away from danger. He was the best baby sitter ever and probably saved mom's life a few times.

This smushy faced little girl was a Pekingese mix called Queenie. She was a regal little doggy who tolerated mom dressing her up in doll dresses, sitting her in a high chair then feeding her with a spoon. Mom didn't play with dolls cause she had Queenie!

This kindly faced hound dog was called Butch. He was mom's best furiend when she was a teenager. He was a great listener, so mom shared her secrets and dreams with him and he never told a soul.

And these two doggies were named Rylee and Savannah. Rylee was a German Shepard and Savannah was a Golden Retriever/Labrador Retriever mix. These doggies came to live with mom when she moved into her own house as a young adult. They kept her safe on the hiking trails and kept her company at home.

Hi Bijou & Banjo,

Mom and I were just looking at your blog because we have not been blogging much lately. Your cousin is very cute, I bet you had a good time playing with him.
Bully sticks are the best......my mom says they are the only thing that works to settle me down sometimes. Even when I don't want to settle down. I have never heard of a moo tube, we will have to check that out. Have a fun day.
Love,
Lexi

What a great post! Nice to see how many furry friends your mom has had through her life - what a lucky lady she is! Too bad bloggies weren't invented then - what did those poor doggies do to talk about their lives??

Such fantastic pictures of your mums dogs. They all look so happy and loved. We're sure your mum thinks you two fill their paws very well. Who wouldn't rather play with a dog than dolls, our mum had lots of dolls but lots more fun with the family dogs!

Hi Bijou, Our Mom really liked this post. She has been telling us that sometime she wanted to do a post of all the dogs she has loved and played with. ALSO - Goldie looks so much like one of Mom's first dogs - named Blondie. She was a Daschund & Chihuahua;. Your Mom's life & story sounded a LOT like our Mom's. Interesting!!!

Great post! I have come to find that even tho we have big paws to fill each dog from the past leaves a very special mark on our mom's hearts. Parts of that need to be filled in but other parts need to be left alone so the dog remains special to your mom. You and Banjo have already left a special mark on your momma's heart!

That was very cool to read about your "ancestors", B&B! What a lucky girl you human was to have all those doggies. I'm my human's first ever doggie (longish story there, probably for a future post).
