Hi furiends. I hope every buddy had a terrific weekend with their hoomans, eating nummy food and having fun adventures.

Banjo went to the vet Friday to get his stitches out. His boo-boo is healing up better than we thought it would. He has two threads on the inside that have to stay in til they dissolve on their own in a couple months.

Me and Banjo have been bored outta our minds the last few days but that's nothing new. Our mom is so old and lazy we never get to do anything fun. She went to the flea market Saturday but didn't take us cause it was "too hot". Whatever.
She wanted us to pose for a picture.
Yeah sure.
We'll show you the stinkeye.

My boo-boo is healing up okay.
Mom makes me wear a shirt most of the time cause I am itchy!

She says that means the incision is getting better.
I go next Friday to let the nice lady vet see me and I hope take the stitches out.

Mom read all your nice comments to me the other day.
They made me feel furry much loved and cared for.

Banjo's Boo-boo

Today I'm going to tell you why I have not been blogging much lately. Some of you might remember me posting about Banjo being sick last month. If not, you can read about it here.

Well we thought he was all better after taking the medicine and getting rid of the infection but a few weeks ago mom noticed a small hard mass in the same spot where the swelling had been weeks before. She kept checking it over the next few days and soon feared the mass was getting bigger. After talking to the nice lady vet on the phone, they decided it needed to be checked out. So Banjo went to the clinic and let them see his lump, that couldn't be seen only felt. The doctor sent him home with some more antibiotics and asked mom to bring him back in two weeks when the medicine was all gone.

Mom gave Banjo his medicine every day for a week but the lump did not get smaller, it grew bigger. So she took Banjo back out to the clinic and had the doctor exam him again before the medicine was all gone. The doctor was surprised the medicine was not helping and after doing some thinking, told mom that she believed he had "granular tissue" growing in his chest and worried that it was getting too close to his jugular vein so she wanted to do surgery to remove the mass.

Mom could not decide what to do cause Banjo seemed to be feeling fine and the lump was not causing him any pain at all. She hated to put the little runt through surgery if it was not absolutely necessary. But after talking to the doctor again, she decided it was best to have the lump removed now and not take the chance it would continue to grow and become more difficult to remove.

So, Banjo had surgery last Thursday morning and came home that evening. We have been staying inside and taking lots of naps since then. Banjo has pain medicine to take and goes back in two weeks to get the stitches out. I have to warn you the incision is not purdy. Mom says he is going to have an awful scar cause the skin in the center of the mass was stretched so thin the doctor had a hard time closing the wound.

Yepper, it's the standup ears that makes this picture a keeper. Mom has 1000's of pictures of Banjo but only a few where he's got both ears standing up! Usually he looks all mopey with droopy ears in his pix, as many of you have commented on. So mom wanted to bring special attention to this ear-resistible picture.

If you ask me, he looks like a doofus no matter what! BOL

Weekend Breakfast

Awhile back I told ya about eating bacon and eggs for breakfast. Well we usually get scrambled eggs once a week, either Saturday or Sunday morning. Mom went shopping today so she gave us our special treat this morning cause she was feeling bad about leaving us home alone. We didn't get turkey bacon mixed in our eggs today though cause she was out. We got some cheddar cheese, which if you ask me, is just as tasty as bacon.

Here we are patiently waiting for our bowls...

I'll purdy much eat anything left on the floor whether it's been there five seconds or five hours. BOL

Banjo usually nibbles on his food and Mom has to keep telling him to EAT. But when we get eggs he gobbles them all gone in like one second. And don't get too close or he'll snarl at ya.

More Fun At The Park

Hi furiends.
Yesterday I left you wondering what Banjo had seen.
My little brother thinks he's smarter than me but he ain't.
I saw what he saw BEFORE he saw it.

These ducks sitting in the shade.

They moved closer to the water when we walked past cause Banjo was barking.

After we passed the ducks we saw this path leading off to a new part of the park. It's a "natural wetland". There's lots of waterplants, like cattails, and a bridge over a little pond where the frogs and turtles live.

Come on Mom. Lets go see it!

This morning after our breakfast of bacon and eggs, mom asked us if we wanted to go to the park. Are you nuts mom? Of Course We Do! So we loaded up in the truck and headed across town. There wasn't anybuddy there so mom let us off leash. We had to pose on one of the picnic tables before mom would let us free to check everything out.

I Getting Better!

Hello furiends. It's me, Banjo.
I asked mom if I could make a post today to thank everybuddy for wishing me well and to let you know I am doing better. I did have to go see the vet twice over the weekend and got two more shots each day. That makes six shots in three days!

And cause the nice lady vet wanted some of my blood to test, mom took me back out this morning for that. I was a very good boy and didn't fight the doctor at all. I even wagged my tail so hard that the doctor laughed that she'd never had a sweeter doggy in her office. Mom wishes she had taken her camera so she could show every buddy what a good boy I was.

I know Bijou posted that I was faking. But I'm not. Bijou hates going to the vet and can't understand how I can be happy to have the hoomans at the vet's office touch me, specially when I am sick and some of the things they do doesn't feel good. The reason I don't fight them is cause I know they are trying to help me get better, so I just wag my tail and do whatever they ask.

My mom says I have an infection and hopefully the vet has now found the right medicine to help me fight off the bad bugs in my body. Don't worry though cause I get to eat special meals that my mom makes for me and she is letting me sit in her lap as much as I want, so it's not all bad.

Flower Friday & A Pupdate

Hi furiends, my mom wanted me to share this purdy flower with you. She says it is called a Balloon Flower and if you look at the picture below you will see why.

I'm told this flower is a very purdy "sky blue" but since us doggies can't see most colors I guess you will have to take my word for that. BOL

Here is a picture of me and Banjo relaxing on the futon swing last night.

Banjo had to go see the VET this morning. He has been sneezing his little head off and had a snotty nose all week. Mom thought he caught a cold but last night he had a fever and then this morning he puked on mom's pillow! The doctor gave him TWO shots in his scrawny chicken neck and he can't have any food or water til tomorrow. If he does not feel better in the morning he will have to go see the doctor again and give her some blood to test.

Don't feel too sorry for the runt though cause he is getting lots of smoochies & snuggles from our mom and is enjoying the extra attention. Don't tell my mom I told you this... but I think he just might be faking it!

Yesterday mom charged up the camera and took a few pictures while we were sitting outside waiting for the rain to start falling.
(There was a big thunder-boomer right before mom took this picture of me.)

Banjo sat in mom's lap while I ran out into the yard to check something out.
It had just started to rain. See the sprinkles on the patio?

Soon it started raining harder.
Oh no! The fishes are getting wet!

But I ran under the patio so I could stay dry.

Banjo was worried about the noise the rain made on the patio's tin roof.
It was very noisy, but it didn't bother me.

I Got Upset Tummy

Hi furiends. This morning I woke my mom up early to let her know I wasn't feeling good. My tummy was hurting so bad I was shaking and grunting from the pain. Mom left work to come get me after the vet's office opened cause she knew I wouldn't be acting this way if I wasn't hurting alot. And let me tell you, I felt so bad I wasn't even excited about going bye-bye.

Since I didn't have an appointment we had to wait about 45 minutes before the nice lady vet could see me. Then she looked me over, stuck her finger in my hiney and gave me a shot for my tummy and took me in another room to give me "something to make me poop". And boy did I ever poop! The lady vet said I might have eaten something that didn't agree with me and hopefully the medicine would help "settle my tummy". If not, then I will have to go back in the morning to have some pictures taken of my innerds. Mom told the vet it was possible that I ate something outside yesterday when she was busy painting and not able to watch me. Yeah I like to chew on sticks, but I don't normally eat them. Maybe I did eat a few and don't remember it. But the vet tech didn't see any pieces of wood in my poo. So it's any buddy's guess what the real problem is.

Anyways, I am back home now and 'cept for some "leakage" (the reason for the towel) I am feeling some better. The vet told mom to limit my food today and tonight feed me some boiled chicken & rice. Woo-wee! If a trip to the vet gets me yummies like that I might start going more often. Well not really, cause being sick is no fun and my mom could have used the $$ on something else.

Update-2pm

I'm still not feeling well. Mom ate her lunch awhile ago and I wasn't even tempted to beg. I even stayed in my sick bed when mom fixed Banjo his lunch. She has been messing around in the kitchen, cooking the chicken and rice for my supper and I haven't gone in to ask for a bite. I'm just not interested in food today. Which has mom worried cause that is NOT like me at all.

Update- 6pm

I must be feeling a little better cause I ate a tiny bit of chicken and rice awhile ago and kept it down. Mom now has an idea what I ate that made me sick. She was just outside walking around the yard and found a chewed up wisteria seed pod. All parts of the wisteria plant are poisonous, specially the seeds. Mom discovered this a year ago and has been very good about picking up the seed pods when they fall to the ground and/or clipping them from the vine before they fall. Anyways, this tiny pod couldn't have held more than one or two seeds so if I did eat them, (I ain't admitting to nothing), then the symptoms are: "nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain".

So doggies the lesson here is, don't eat things you find on the ground!

Hello furiends. I have some more funnies for you! Me and Bijou have been playing out in the yard and going on walks with mom cause it is finally sunny and warm. Spring is the best time ever! Specially when it comes after a yucky winter like the one we just had. My mom is SO busy messing in her flower beds that she can't find a minute to take any pictures of our house so you can see how the new siding looks. Take my word for it, it looks terrific! My mom has been watching those hoarding shows on the tellyvision. So today she comes home from work and tells me we need to clean out the toy box and give away the toys we are not playing with anymore cause today is Letting Go Of Stuff Day.

Today is one of my favorite days of the year.

Yep doggies, believe it or not, there is a day set aside to celebrate naps. I'm trying my best to get some rest, but the noisy siding men are making it difficult.

Some of you might remember me posting last September about our old house getting a makeover. If not, you can read all about it here. Well we got a new roof and gutters from the insurance company cause the ice storms messed up our house. Then mom decided she wanted to make the house look even better with new siding. Sadly, the siding men couldn't work on our house last fall cause they were too busy. But today they showed up and started banging around and tearing stuff off the house and making so much noise that me and Banjo have been barking at them until mom yelled at us. Can you believe that? Those siding men are making lots more noise then us, but she isn't telling them to "shut up"! Geesh.

Here the guys are nailing up insulation before putting the siding on. Mom says this will make our house warmer next winter.

Me and Banjo can only look out the back door.
We can't go outside cause the noisy men are working.

Mom told us some terrible news about our sunny window box.
It is going to be taken down! We only have a day or two to enjoy it before it is removed by the siding guys. This makes me very sad cause I love taking naps in the sun when it's too cold to go outside. This is another reason for me to hate the noisy siding men!

Some of my proudest moments have come about with

Many hours have passed and my only company was
"just a dog,"
but I did not once feel slighted.

Some of my saddest moments have been brought
about by "just a dog,"
and in those days of darkness,
the gentle touch of "just a dog"
gave me comfort and reason to overcome the day.

If you, too, think it's "just a dog,"
then you will probably understand phases
like "just a friend," "just a sunrise," or
"just a promise."

"Just a dog" brings into my life the very essence
of friendship, trust, and pure unbridled joy.

"Just a dog" brings out the compassion and
patience that make me a better person.
Because of "just a dog" I will rise early,
take long walks and look longingly to the future.

So for me and folks like me, it's not "just a dog"
but an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams
of the future, the fond memories of the past,
and the pure joy of the moment.

"Just a dog" brings out what's good in me and
diverts my thoughts away from myself and the
worries of the day.

I hope that someday they can understand that
it's not "just a dog" but the thing that gives me humanity and keeps
me from being "just a man."

So the next time you hear the phrase "just a dog."
just smile, because they "just don't understand."

More Snow !?!

What the hec is going on here? Yesterday we went outside when mom got home for lunch and found our backyard covered in snow! I don't know 'bout you other doggies, but we are SICK of winter. And now mom tells us that we could get anywhere from 2-6 MORE inches of snow tonight and tomorrow. OMD! I am going to go crazy!! I want to go on a long walk, play out in the yard, take a nap in the sun. But I can't do any of those things cause we just got MORE SNOW.

Oh gosh! It has been almost a week since my last post. I have been checking on my furiend's blogs the whole time though. I just didn't feel like working on my blog til today. Me and Banjo have been out to play in the yard a few times this past week since most of the snow is gone. It is still cold, but at least we can see the grass now.

Look at this purdy red bird. It was sitting in mom's wisteria, singing a song to his mate. Mom tried to get closer but she didn't want to scare him away. You can bigify the picture though.

My little brother heard the Red Bird singing and went over to chase him away. He doesn't like the birds to be in our yard.

I found a nice stick to chew on.
See one of our little piles of snow? It is all crusty and hard now.

Look at Banjo's skinny legs!

It was terrific to get out and play in the sunshine.
Mom says we can go for a walk later today.

New Toof Brushes

Mom went shopping Saturday and left me and Banjo home alone.
I was not happy with her cause I could tell it was a nice day and we were stuck in the house. She said she had to get the truck serviced and it had to be done Saturday. Of course Sunday was cold, cloudy, windy and damp. So we had to stay in the house all day. To make things worse, mom came home with these new brushes for cleaning our toofers.

Banjo has to have his toofers brushed cause some of them are yellow and his breath stinks. I have to get mine cleaned so Banjo will think it is fun and will cooperate with mom.

Mom spent $1.00 on these two brushes at the Dollar Tree.
And cause they have Snoopy and paw prints, mom thought we would love them. Yeah, the pink one is mine and the yellow one is Banjo's.

First mom let me sniff the goop she puts on the brush to clean our toofers. She says it is mint flavored.

Banjo watched me closely when I checked out my new brush. He was afraid I was gonna get something yummy to eat and he wouldn't get any.

When mom squeezed some of the goop on my brush I licked it off real fast. It kinda tasted good.

Well not really.
And when mom tried to get me to taste it again I politely refused.

I quietly made my escape when Banjo came over to see if he could taste the minty goop.

Mom showed him his new toof brush and let him taste the goop.

Sadly, I don't have any pictures of mom cleaning Banjo's toofers cause she needed both hands to do it. Banjo liked the taste so much he let her brush all his toofers like a good boy. Now he has fresh minty breath and we don't gag when he breaths on us.

A Winter Outing

The sun peeked out yesterday afternoon so mom took us out to play for a few minutes. It was kinda cold, but we were excited to be outside again.

What's with all this snow mom?
I thought you said it had melted.

Mom scooped a path to our patio so we could get out in our part of the yard for the first time in two months!

Me and the little brother waded out into the cold snow to sniff around.

I found a little patch of green grass.

And then this bigger patch.
It felt so good under my feets!

I had to do a zoomie cause I was so happy.

Banjo saw me running and took off too!

I smelled something interesting under the snow so I stuck my nose in to sniff around.

Banjo tried to stay out of the snow by walking around the edge of the yard.

Mom took this picture of a frosty burning bush the other morning.
It looks like the bush is covered in thorns.

Awhile back my mom bought this brush to clean Banjo's toofers. She got the smallest one they had but it is still too big for his mouth. So if any doggy needs a toof brush, let my mom know your address and she will mail you this one.

Yes, it's true furiends. I am addicted to peanut butter and it's getting so bad my mom says I may need an intervention soon.
I don't know what that means but it can't be good.

Look at this picture closely though.
Can you see the hand holding the pb jar?
That is my mom's hand.
Wouldn't you say she is encouraging my addiction?

Now look very closely at this picture.
See my tongue licking the bottom of the pb jar?
I couldn't do that if mom wasn't enabling me.
She has to come to my rescue when I get my head stuck in the jar.

Here I am sharing my addiction with my little brother.
I know I shouldn't get him hooked on pb,
but my addiction is strong and if he gets addicted too
then mom will have to buy more jars of pb and
I won't have to worry about running out.
Pure genius wouldn't you say?

Look how anxious Banjo got when I took control of the pb jar.
He is wondering if he'll get another taste.

Can you see how well my plan is working?
Banjo got such a craving for more pb that he "took" the jar away from me.

Does anydoggy have suggestions for curing the blahs?
Me, Banjo and mom started off the new year stuck indoors for three days.
Mean Ol' Mr. Winter just won't leave us alone! The ground is covered with crusty old snow and the air is so cold buggers freeze in your nose!

I spent most of the weekend hoping mom would play with me but she just wanted to watch the tellyvision.
I tried to make her feel guilty for neglecting me so I sat and stared at her.

First from this side.

Then from the other side.

I even made faces at her, but all that did was make her annoyed so she yelled at me to stop staring at her.

So I moved to the couch and stared at her from there.

Banjo was useless to me.
He was more than happy to sit in mom's lap and
watch the tellyvision with her.

Or give her the sad puppy dog look,

so she'd share her snack with him.

Do you think I got a bite too?

No!

But I stuck to my #1 New Year's resolution
and let him have his time with mom.

Finally, little brother snuggled down for a nap.

So I claimed my rightful spot in her lap.

My Hopes for 2010

While visting my furiend's blogs this morning, I saw where some of you have made New Year Resolutions. I had to have my mom explain what this was all about cause I didn't have a clue. She said it was when you decide something needs done and you are determined to do it. Such as; losing weight, being nice or listening to your mom.

Okay mom I get it now, thanks for the help.
Well I don't need to lose weight, but I guess I could be nicer and listen better. So here's my list of resolutions for the New Year.

1. be nicer to my little brother and others
2. listen to mom better
3. not be such a piggy when it comes to the treats
4. share my toys with other doggies
5. be more thankful for what i have
6. help the homeless critters
7. learn to like snow (not happening, but I will try)
8. dream big
9. love more
10. have hope when all seems hopeless

Yesterday we were playing in the house when all of a sudden I noticed something wonderful. The sun was shining! I got so excited I jumped on the back of the couch and started barking out the window. Mom thought someone must be out front so she came to see who it was and got annoyed when no one was there. I kept barking and zooming around the house like a nut and even though she is slow sometimes, our mom finally understood what I was trying to tell her.

"THE SUN IS HERE! LET'S GO OUTSIDE!!"

So mom bundled us up in our winter coats and decided we could go out in the back alley, which we NEVER get to do, while she scooped the driveway for exercise. (She is getting fat and lazy.)

Geesh! More Snow!!

Mom went out and scooped snow off the walks yesterday. It started snowing on Thursday and didn't stop til Saturday morning. We heard on the news that the snow total was anywhere from 10-14" but the wind blew so hard, and the snow was so light, that in some spots there's bare ground and in other places there are big drifts. Our front sidewalk was drifted really bad cause we have a retaining wall and the snow piled up against it. Mom didn't take any pictures of the front yard but I can share these of the back yard with my furiends.

The snow was piled high in front of the garage door. Mom was worried the snow would be up against the big garage door too, but when she opened it there was just a two foot drift across the driveway. She is going to see if her brother will bring his snow blower over today and take care of it.

They say it's all fun and games til Santa checks his naughty list.
Well I guess we fooled Santa Paws cause he was very very good to us this Christmas. We got some nummy treats and fun toys and mom fixed us a yummy breakfast of eggs and turkey bacon. Mom says we are having roasted turkey and mashed potatoes with gravy for dinner. Nummy!!

We hope all our furiends and their families are having a terrific holiday.

A Winter Wonderland

Yesterday it warmed up enough (30*F) that me and Banjo could go out in the back yard for the first time in a week!

The snow was not as deep as last Wednesday
but it was still very cold.
